Roy Williams loves Iowa

McDonald's All-American notes | Paige keeps Iowa pipeline going for Roy Williams

Marcus Paige joins a short, but highly successful line of players who have been a big part of Roy Williams' success at Kansas and North Carolina.

The 6-foot-1 Paige isn't from Chicago or hotbed recruiting states like California or New York. He's from Iowa and he is Williams' fifth signee from the state.
"(Coach Williams) has got a lot of big-time guys coming out of Iowa," Paige said. "Hopefully I can follow in the steps that these guys have taken with Harrison (Barnes) soon going to the NBA. They'll all have played in the NBA then. That would be a dream of mine some day."

Those footsteps include the likes of Raef LaFrentz, Nick Collison and Kirk Hinrich at Kansas, and Barnes at North Carolina. LaFrentz, Collison and Hinrich all had their jerseys retired at Kansas.

"I don't think people (in Iowa) like him very much," Paige said of Williams. "I see how well Coach has done with Iowa kids. We're kind of underrated as a basketball state. We get overlooked."

March Maddness Nothing But Net!

Iowa Basketball

Iowa won a post season basketball game tonight for the first time since 2003.Its just the NIT but Iowa basketball has been a dumpster fire for much of the past 9 years.

Here are things that were taking place that year:

In March of 2003, gas prices were nearing all time highs, with a March 10th, 2003 price of $1.72 per gallon.

In Da Club by 50 cent was the #1 song for the month of March 2003

Other things that took place in 2003

Arnold Schwarzenegger is elected Governor of California

Apples launches iTunes

Finding Nemo is released in theaters

The new US Department of Homeland Security began operations

The US and UK invaded Iraq

Saddam Hussein was captured in Tikrit

Bartman interfered with a foul ball at Wrigley

From Matt Lautner
Matt asked for some help this morning promoting his "Breeder of the Year" tournament.

Not sure the master of promotion needs our help though. I'm sure that hardly anyone that looks at this blog didn't look at Matt's first. We see our stats and where the visitors to our blog come from and MLC Blog sends a lot of traffic our way. I think we all can agree that MLC Blog has taken promotion/advertising to a new level that has changed the industry forever and for the better!

As Seen On The Bleacher Report

"Despite all the question marks that surround Manning, he is a far better quarterback than Tebow will ever be. With the strong zone-blocking scheme they have in Denver, Manning would have the time to make the plays he needs. With the way Denver is currently built, Manning could achieve the numbers Tebow had last season in his sleep. Or with a broken neck."
