World of Outlaws

Cam Granger of CJ Promotions is proud to announce a first for drivers and fans at Independence Motor Speedway in 2011. The World of Outlaws Late Models will be making its first-ever visit to the 3/8-mile oval this summer.

“I’ve been wanting to give our fans something different,” explained Granger. “I wanted to try a show or big-name series they’re familiar with, but may have never seen. The World of Outlaws gives our fans just that chance.”

The Tuesday, July 12, event at Independence will mark the third day in the tour’s seven-day Wild West swing.  Prior to Independence, the series will have a pair of dates in Oklahoma. Following the stop in Independence, the tour will travel north to Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., on July 13, and Superior (Wis.) Speedway on July 14. The swing then wraps up in North Dakota and Wyoming.

The July 12 event is the only scheduled stop on the series schedule for the Hawkeye state in 2011.

“It will be a unique opportunity for race fans in northeast Iowa,” continued Granger. “We hope the fans come out to support it.”

Josh Richards of Shinnston, West Virginia, topped the series points for the second straight year in 2010. Darrell Lanigan finished second, just four points out. Other drivers finishing in the top 10 in series points in 2010 included Tim McCreadie, Steve Francis, Rick Eckert, Shane Clanton, Austin Hubbard, Tim Fuller, Clint Smith and Chub Frank. Brady Smith, Billy Moyer, Dale McDowell and Iowans Brian Birkhofer and Jill George also competed in numerous series events last season.

Details of the July 12 event, including ticket prices and support classes, will be announced at a later date at www.independencemotorspeedway.com. For more information on the World of Outlaws, visit www.worldofoutlaws.com.
